Thursday morning at the Masters

Finally the Masters tournament starts today and I must say there is a different feel around this legendary place. The golfers intensity level has totally changed and everything is all business.

Not that you care, but I did arrive by 7 a.m. today and grabbed a spot to watch Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus hit their ceremonial drives to kick this baby off. Nicklaus held a press conference and brought up a time he and Arnold played in Seagraves, Tx.

Good ol' West Texas is everywhere.

I will follow Amarillo native Ryan Palmer for 18 holes today beginning at 11:08 a.m. He is calm and really confident in his game right now. If avoids the big blow up on a hole, look for the Amarillo High graduate to make some noise. None of the local or national media here are giving him a chance.

I will hustle back and tweet and blog from the media center after his round. You can't bring phones, backpacks or cameras on the course. Security is tight here.

  1. Lancer - just watched the post-1st round press conference of Tiger Woods on ESPN. Can you please tell those lingering reporters who are there to cover the Masters for the tabloids to stick to questions about golf and nothing but golf please. They are wasting everyone else's time with their lame, stale and non-germaine questions directed to Tiger about off-course matters.
